Rivertowns Organizations Unite For Oktoberfest Fundraiser In Dobbs Ferry

Ardsley Garden Club and Dobbs Ferry Women's Club invites residents for a combined Oktoberfest fundraiser, featuring dinner and music in the beer garden, on Sunday, Nov. 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The dinner will be a roast pork entree with all trimmings. There will be live Austrian, German, Tyrolean music and a cash bar.

Guide to the 2014 Elections in Ardsley

ARDSLEY, N.Y. Incumbents Nancy Kaboolian and Gary Malone are running uncontested for their seats on the Ardsley Village Board of Trustees on Tuesday, Nov. 7. According to Village Manager George Calvi, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ardsley Community Center, 18 Center St., and at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 2 Revolutionary Road. Kaboolian, who is seeking her second two-year term after first being elected to the board in 2012, says there are several issues facing Ardsley including taxes, a crumbling infrastructure and increasing environmental initiatives.

TJ Lyons, a senior at Ardsley High School who is working on his Eagle Scout project, is collecting items for the Yonkers Animal Shelter, particularly towels, dog and cat toys and dog and cat food. With the permission of the village of Ardsley and the cooperation of the parks and recreation director, Lyons has set up a collection box in the foyer of the Community Center at 18 Center St. The box will be in place through the end of October.

Congratulations to the Ardsley Literary Lions who placed second in the 'Battle of the Books' competition this past weekend. The Ardsley team, made up of six students in grades 4-6 and coached by Ardsley Librarian, Maryanne Ripin, competed against 10 other teams and over 170 other middle school students from all over Westchester.
